Important Notes:

 

a)   No candidate shall be summoned for Viva Voce and Psychological test unless he/she has obtained at least 33 percent marks in each individual written paper and 50 percent marks in the aggregate of the written portion of the examination (0.50 or more marks will be rounded off). No candidate shall be considered to have qualified for  the appointment unless he/she also obtains at least 50 percent marks in Viva Voce and Psychological tests. Failure in or absence in Viva Voce and Psychological tests shall mean that the candidate has failed to qualify for appointment and his name will not be included in the merit list.

 

1. FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS MUST BE ATTACHED WITH THE APPLICATION FORM:-

 

  a) All Educational Certificates such as Matric/Inter/B.A. /LL.B/Post Graduate etc.

  b) Valid Certificate of Domicile of the candidate in any district of the Punjab Province issued by District Magistrate/District Coordination Officer and copy of Computerized National Identity Card.

  c) One latest Passport size photograph ( Both for Male and Female candidates ) attested by at least a Govt. officer of BS-16 or above who should give his/her full name and designation and affix his/her rubber stamp and signatures  to be pasted on the application at the proper place

  d) Experience Certificate on the prescribed form PPSC-4 attached with the application form, must be obtained from the President High Court Bar Association/District Bar Association/Sub-Division Bar Association duly countersigned and affixing rubber stamps of the District and Sessions      Judge concerned (in original), showing date of membership.

  e) Punjab Bar Council's up to date/valid registration certificate showing the date of enrolment.

 

2.   Incomplete, wrongly filled in and unsigned applications will be rejected summarily.

 

3.   Candidates must submit their applications complete in all respect duly supported with the

required certificates.

 

4.   All qualifications and conditions of eligibility must have been completed on or before the closing date of submission of applications.

 

5.   Attested photocopies of all the relevant documents must be attached with the application form.  However, the original certificates will be produced by the candidates at the time of Psychological test and Interview.

 

6.   Candidates must carefully read and follow "Instructions to Candidates" attached with the application form for filling the application.  However, candidates must complete all the requirements mentioned in this advertisement even though these may not be mentioned in the application forms. The syllabus and examination details contained in the advertisement supersede those contained in the "Instructions to Candidates" attached with the application form.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Candidates will be admitted to the written examination/test provisionally at their own risk subject to their being found eligible in all respects. On detailed scrutiny of the applications of the candidates declared successful in the written examination/test, if any candidate is found ineligible in any respect under rules, his/her candidature will be cancelled regardless of the fact whether he/she appeared in the written examination/test or qualified therein. To avoid frustration, the candidates are advised in their own interest to make sure before appearing in the examination that they fulfill all the requirements of the rules, relating to the examination.

Food Security Center Offers up to 29 Research Scholarships in 2010 

 

The Food Security Center (FSC) is a newly established university center of excellence in development collaboration at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. FSC is one of five excellence centers of the program "exceed –Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation", which is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany. FSC's mission is to make effective and innovative scientific contributions in research, teaching and policy advice to eradicate hunger and achieve food security in collaboration with partner Higher Education Institutions in Africa, Asia and Latin America and national  and international development and research organizations. Thematically, FSC's activities deal with issues of sustainable food availability, food access, food use, and food utilization. More information is available from www.foodsecurity.de

FSC awards up to 29 scholarships for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers for a period of 4 to 36 months, starting April 15, 2010. The Center wishes to attract outstanding PhD students and post-doctoral fellows pursuing a career in academia or development collaboration. The scholarships aim at increasing their previously gained scientific knowledge and skills relevant to food security related issues. Furthermore, FSC aims at establishing an active, long-lasting collaboration with the supported researchers and their home institutions.

FSC offers three categories of scholarships:

  1. Sandwich scholarships for PhD students (6 months)
  2. Research scholarships for visiting postdoctoral researchers (4 months)
  3. Excellence scholarships for FSC-supported PhD program "Young Excellence School" (36 months)

In category 1 and 2, FSC scholarships will support researchers from developing countries to conduct their research either at the university of Hohenheim (South-North) or at a national or international research institute in a developing  country, for instance one of the centers of the CGIAR (South-South). Tere are few scholarships for students and postdoctoral researchers of the University of Hohenheim to visit a research institute in a developing country (North-South).

The application deadline for all scholarships in category 1 and 2 is January 30, 2010. Selection is carried out on a competitive basis and the decisions will be communicated up to March 16, 2010. Regarding the details of the different scholarships, the application process and the requirements, please consult FSC's webpage (www.foodsecurity.de go to "scholarships"). Please read the information carefully before you apply. Only complete applications will be considered.

In category 3, FSC is supporting excellent PhD students to participate in the FSC-supported PhD program at the University of Hohenheim, mainly students from developing countries, but few scholarships are as well provided to students from Germany. The detailed application information for the scholarships of this category will be posted on FSC's webpage end of January 2010; the PhD program will start in August 2010.

Indonesian Scholarship Darmasiswa Ri Program For The Academic Year 2010/2011 

 

Introduction

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa Indonesia, arts, music and crafts. Participants can choose one of 45 different universities located in different cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this program was extended to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and USA. In early 90's, this program was extended further to include all countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia. Until to date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 75 countries.

The main purpose of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries.

The interest of international students to participate in this program keep increasing year by year. In 2010, we offer to 750 students who would like to participate in this program as can be seen in the following table:

Darmasiswa RI Program is conducted in 2 schemes, i.e :

  • Regular 1 (One) Year -Darmasiswa RI scholarship Program
    Regular One Year program is a one-year scholarship program offered to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Indonesian language and Art (traditional music, traditional dance, and Indonesian craft) in selected Indonesian Higher Education Institutions.
  • Regular 6 (Six) Months - Darmasiswa RI scholarship Program
    Regular six-month program is a six-month scholarship program offered to foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Indonesian language in selected Indonesian Higher Education Institutions.


The Scholarship Covers


Monthly allowance will be received by participant is Rp 1.500.000,00 (one million and five hundred thousand rupiah), and will be transferred to the University/college where they study.

The participant is advised to bring enough money in US dollar for unexpected additional expenses in Indonesia.

Qualifications Of Applicants

2.     Not more than 35 years old

3.     Completed secondary education or its equivalent

4.     Copy of academic transcript

5.     In good health as proved by Medical Certificate

6.     Passport size color photograph (5 pieces)

7.     Full-page copy of passport valid for at least 18 months from time of arrival in Indonesia

8.     Able to communicate in English and have a basic knowledge of the field they're applying for

USAID Funded Merit and Need Based Scholarships

USAID Funded Merit and Need Based Scholarships

Introduction

HEC aims to elevate the socio-economic position of the needy & deserving students by providing access to quality education through needs-based scholarships. Government of Pakistan has also duly acknowledged the financial constraints barring students from acquiring higher education and has thus earmarked substantial funds for the improvement of education sector.

In pursuance of the Government's initiative of providing financial relief to meritorious but deprived students, an agreement of US$ 7.33 million in July 2004 is signed with United State Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide grant for scholarships in the field of Agriculture and Business Administration at undergraduate & graduate level.

   

Objectives

The scope of the project includes 1407 number of scholarships for the students who meet the eligibility criteria. The scholarships are bifurcated as follows:

The Merit and Needs based Scholarship Project has been in operation since 2004. Eleven (11) public & private institutions are participating in the program while more than 990 scholarships have been successfully awarded at the participating institutions.

*The undergraduate scholarship slots have been fully utilized only graduate level {MBA/MS (Agriculture)}scholarship slots are currently available

Scholarship Offering

Comprehensive scholarship is offered under the program. The scholarship provides funds for the following expenses:

5. Incidental costs.


Students at both private & public sector institutes have found the scholarship extremely helpful in sustaining their educational expenses.

  • Financial assistance & scholarships are available to study at graduate level(MBA/MS (Agriculture)}.  
     

  • The eligibility for the program is assessed on the neediness of the candidate & his/her family background.
     

  • Student should be able to compete for securing admission in the approved discipline at the participating institution as per admission policy of the institution and be enrolled in Graduate (2 Years) programs.

How to Apply

HEC & USAID looks forward to support needy students in sharing educational expenses. However please note that under this scholarships scheme the funds are not transferred directly to students by HEC or USAID. The payment is made to needy students through participating institutions .Please note the partial scholarship for already enrolled students is currently not covered under this project.

Scholarship Award Process

  1. After securing admission, a student has to fill out scholarship form provided by the  Scholarship Aid Office of the participating institutions and submit it along with the supporting documents at the institution.
     

  2. Data and supporting documents of the potential candidate are reviewed by Institutional Scholarship Award Committee (ISAC).  
     

  3. The ISAC recommends potential candidates to HEC Scholarship Management Committee (SMC).

  4. The cases are presented to Scholarship Management Committee (SMC) that approves the cases after through review. The committee includes top Executives of HEC, representatives from the participating institutions, eminent scholars and a senior member from USAID, Pakistan. After finalization of awardees' list, the scholarship fund for the selected students are transferred to participating institutions for onward disbursement to students.

International Research Support Initiative Program

Introduction

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is offering this six month research fellowship abroad to full time PhD students enrolled in Pakistan to enhance their research capabilities. It is of utmost importance that the doctoral studies carried out in Pakistan are of a standard that is at par with any international reputed institution. This is only possible if candidates are provided with adequate support in research projects. This may be a problem because of the paucity of resources in Pakistan therefore the scheme is helping to provide doctoral students exposure internationally so they could carry out research projects of high standard. The scheme is also assisting ongoing Indigenous PhD programs by providing a mechanism for PhD scholars to travel abroad and conduct research in advanced industrialized countries for a period upto 6 months. This is providing exposure to the PhD scholars which will enhance the quality of research that they will be conducting in Pakistan. It is also serving to develop linkages between Pakistani and foreign institutions.

Objectives

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan is offering a six month research fellowship abroad to full time PhD students enrolled in Pakistan to enhance their research capabilities. The objectives of the program are:

  • To enhance the quality of doctoral research in Pakistan.
  • To create a critical mass of highly qualified manpower that could contribute towards the development of Pakistan.
  • To facilitate assimilation, absorption and transfer of important and promising scientific and technological knowledge information to achieve repaid economic progress.
  • To provide opportunities to doctoral students for training/ research work at advanced research labs of reputed universities abroad and to interact with foreign scientist working at frontiers of knowledge.
  • To explore avenues for further collaboration internationally.
  • To introduce Pakistani talent globally.
  • To disseminate information about research in Pakistan.
  • To bring standard of doctoral research at par with international standards.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Any full time AJK/Pakistani national PhD student:

  • Who has completed at least one year of PhD studies at Public Sector University/ Institution which has adopted HEC guideline for M.Phil and PhD studies while being engaged in thesis related research.
  • Who has an approved PhD research topic and synopsis by the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR) or Directorate of Advanced Studies and Research (DASR) or equivalent body of the university
  • "Who has an official acceptance/invitation letter for research from a foreign university/institute/lab of international repute (Preference will be given to top 500 universities as per Times Ranking of World Universities)".
  • Those Scholars who are already availing any other HEC scholarship are also eligible to apply provided they submit NOC from their concerned HEC officer.

  • There is no last date for submission of applications. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as they are eligible and fulfill the basic criteria.

 The bench fee will be paid to the University directly via wire transfer against the invoice of the amount as mentioned in the offer/invitation letter.

 

 

Terms & Conditions
  • Selected candidates will be required to enter into a bond with HEC to return and complete their PhD studies at their parent universities. (Click here to download specimen)
  • Selected candidates will have to avail the scholarship within six month from the date of issue of award letter or before any such date as specified by HEC.

 

FAQs
  1. Is there any last date or deadline for submission of applications?

    There is no deadline or last date for submission of applications. Applicants can apply whole long the year as soon as they fulfill basic requirements of the scholarship.

     
  2. How much time HEC requires for application processing and selection process?

    It takes round about a month and a half to process the applications and declare results. Usually time span of 15-20 days is given to selected applicants to submit the required documents such as surety bond, bench fee invoice, university account information etc. Following this, final award letters are issued.

     
  3. How selection will be made?

    HEC has established a Selection Committee for the selection of scholars under the scheme. The Committee consists of HEC officials, former VCs of known universities and prominent Researchers/ Professors of international repute from Pakistan. The Committee meeting is scheduled monthly to consider the pending cases.

     
  4. Will HEC coordinate visa endorsement process for the selected scholars?

    HEC will only provide award letter stating the financial support and other terms & conditions of the award. Scholars can use this as supporting document to apply for visa.

     
  5. Will HEC pay visa fee?

    HEC do not provide any amounts such as visa application fee, health insurance fee etc.

     
  6. How funds will be released?
    • No funds can be released in favor of the scholar before visa endorsement.
    • Two month advance stipend is provided to the scholar in the form of Cross Cheque before leaving. Remaining four month stipend will be paid to the scholar through respective Pakistan High Commission/ Embassy.
    • However, scholars proceeding to USA will be provided six month stipend in advance before they leave. These will submit us their joining report through their foreign supervisor.
    • Bench/ tuition fees will be directly paid to the foreign university against an invoice raised by the university. Any amount over and above the fellowship package will be covered by the scholar himself. 
    •  Air travel cost will be paid to the Travel Agency directly.
       
  7. How much time HEC requires to release funds?

  8. What are the progress report requirements of HEC?

    Scholars will be required to submit progress report on their research work on Performa as prescribed by HEC. This report could be asked every two months, three months or at end of the research project as specified by HEC.

    However, at the end of the project every scholar is required to submit detailed report on the six month work through foreign supervisor along with copies of research papers produced.
     
  9. Can a PhD student avail the scholarship twice?

    No PhD student can avail the scholarship for the second time.
